The Painted Curtains of Czech Theatre

In the autumn of this year a unique book titled 'The Painted Curtains of Czech Theatre' will be published. The book has been put together as part of the project 'Preserving and Presenting the Cultural Heritage of Czech and World Theatre'. Research and collecting are part of the activities
behind the publicly accessible Database of Czech Theatre (www.amaterskedivadlo.cz). In the course of several years information has been sought and collected on more than three hundred theatre curtains belonging to permanent theatres and also - mainly - amateur companies and puppet theatres throughout the country. This has provided the first opportunity to document 'treasures' that in many cases had already been forgotten and as a whole had not yet been documented. Samples from the publication are viewable in our virtual gallery.
